The SUV was sold under the Ford Motor Company and it was a re-badged Ford Escape and identical twin of the Mazda Tribute. All three of these trucks were the exact same. The Mariner was the perfect option for those who wanted to compromise between a compact SUV and a more larger SUV. The crossover SUV used all the same features as the Ford Escape, with subtle styling differences inside and out. The SUV was first introduced in 2005 and it was Mercury's first car-based SUV. It was slotted below the Mountaineer in the Mercury lineup. Production of the Mariner ended in October of 2010 after Ford eliminated the Mercury brand.
