The E-Class has 255 to 603 hp (horsepower) and comes with either a 2.0 L 4-cylinder, 3.0 L 6-cylinder, or 4.0 L V8 engine. It has a curb weight of 3,792 to 4,669 pounds and is available in four different body styles. These body styles include the Sedan, Coupe, Wagon, and the Convertible. The luxury car is also available in various body and engine configurations. The "E" in "E-Class" first stood for Einspritzmotor, which means "fuel injection engine" in German. The E-Class frequently serves as taxis or police vehicles in European countries due to its durability and size. Autobild Magazine awarded both the E-Class and E-Class Coupe "Best Looking Car in the World." This car was first produced all the way back in 1953 and it falls midrange in the Mercedes line-up, and has been marketed worldwide across five generations. Before 1993, the E in Mercedes-Benz nomenclature was a suffix following a vehicle's model number. It began to appear in the early 1960s, when that feature began to be utilized broadly in the maker's product line, and not just in its upper tier luxury and sporting models.
